Crock Pot Hawaiian BBQ Chicken – Just 3-Ingredients

March 10, 2012 by Kimberly Danger 50 Comments

With just three ingredients, it doesn’t get much easier than this Crock Pot Hawaiian BBQ Chicken recipe.  The Archer Farms Hawaiin-Style Barbecue Sauce from Target already contains many of the spices that make this tasty such as mango and red pepper, so no added seasoning is necessary.   If you feel like it, you can add onion and green pepper chunks.

chipotle chile pepperIf it’s not zippy enough for your liking, try adding a little Chipotle Chile Pepper (pictured here, also used in our Copycat Beecher’s Macaroni & Cheese recipe).

3-Ingredient Crock Pot Hawaiian BBQ Chicken

  • Archer Farms Hawaiian-Style Barbecue Sauce
  • 4-6 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 20-oz. can pineapple chunks, drained

Spray your Crock Pot with nonstick cooking spray.  Place chicken breasts on the bottom of the Crock Pot.  Pour the entire bottle of barbecue sauce and can of pineapple chunks over the chicken breasts.   Cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 4-6 hours or until chicken pulls apart and shreds easily.

Serve over rice.

Target is the only store that carries it, Lisa – but any Hawaiian style barbecue sauce will work.

I found Lawry’s Hawaiian marinade. Do you think that will work, or is it too thin?

Is it a barbecue-flavored sauce? If so, it may work. Otherwise, it is probably too different.

TOO THIN. it is a great marinade. I think a honey bbq sauce would be better if you cannot find the archer farms brand. I have not tried our target yet, but am planning to.

Sounds yummy! Do you think you could make sandwiches with it?
I was thinking about serving it with buns at a party.

I made this for dinner tonight! I added some jerk seasoning since my hubby and I like it spicy. Served on hamburger buns with pickles and extra bbq sauce. Soooo good and easy! Hubby had seconds and requested it again. I will eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

This looks great! I’m planning to make it at our Luau birthday party. How many does this recipe feed? I’m also thinking of putting it on the small King’s Hawaiian buns instead of rice.

    Thanks!

Had a kick to it. Little spicy for my 5 and 3 year old. If I use just regular BBQ sauce and add honey that might work.

I didn’t want to make a trip to Target just for barbecue sauce, so used Stubb’s Sweet Heat instead (found at my Kroger’s grocery store in Texas). The recipe tastes great with it and yes, spicy…which is what I expected. Kroger’s has their own brand of Hawaiian Barbecue sauce and I also spotted a Hawaiian marinade sauce, but chose the sauce I used because unlike those, Stubb’s does not contain corn syrup nor artificial ingredients.

That’s a great tip! I’m not sure if I’ve seen Stubb’s Sweet Heat where we live (MN) but I’ll look for it the next time I’m at the grocery store.

I’m in Canada couldn’t find any of the suggested BBQ sauces. Simply used regular BBQ sauce (tony Roma’s) and thickened with a little cornstarch and cold water when it started to thin out in the crock pot

Are these questions still being answered?

How many oz of bbq sauce does one use in this recipe?

What if I strained most of the pineapple juice from the chunks, do I add more bbq sauce or run to the store and grab a small can of pineapple juice?

    Thanks,

Each container is a different color corresponding with a food category…fruit, vegetables, protein, etc. The containers are all different sizes…1 cup…1/2 cup…etc. It’s the Beach Body Clean Eating Plan. It’s about eating healthy foods and practicing portion control.

Hi, I have 2 problems when learning to cook these healthier meals and using my crockpot. Number 1, my chicken breasts always dry out in the crockpot even when cooking over low and come out bland though the liquid in the crockpot is flavorful. Also, when using yogurt to make a dish creamy, my yogurt separates. Any ideas? Thank you for the help!

My guess would be that a serving (about a cup) would have 1 red, 1/2 purple, and 1 orange – has anyone else found something more accurate? Or does that sound correct? (I will have it over rice and add 1-2 yellow)
